Icynene open-cell foams are also water-blown and more climate-friendly than older spray foams, though some closed-cell products still rely on earlier-generation blowing technology. |
| Breathability & moisture control |
Offers a choice of vapour-open open-cell foam (ideal for many attic and warm-roof upgrades) and moisture-resistant closed-cell foam (useful where damp or driving rain could be an issue). We select the appropriate product for each area. |
Available with both open-cell and closed-cell options as well, but not every Icynene system is as finely tuned to the same variety of applications as the Elastochem range we use. |
| Comfort & noise |
Elastochem open-cell foam is soft, flexible and highly effective at reducing noise – a great choice if you’re near traffic, have a party wall, or want a quieter loft or home office. |
Icynene open-cell insulation also helps with sound reduction, but in our experience newer Elastochem formulations offer excellent acoustic performance with less likelihood of gaps or hollow spots. |

Designed to be low-VOC when handled correctly. As with any spray foam, the final air-quality outcome depends on installer training and on-site practice. |

The latest Elastochem systems are built to be easy and predictable to install – including no-mix open-cell options and excellent adhesion – helping us achieve a smooth, even layer and minimise cold bridges. |
Icynene is typically applied using more traditional mix-on-site setups, which can perform well but are generally less optimised for speed and uniformity than the Elastochem products we favour. |
